I posted some Youtube examples, in an earlier THREAD: You can actually run on MOD-7 into the audio input of another, in the same program. It can process samples and audio (SY99 style). Probably not as versatile as FM8 which much more than 6 op fm and is nearer to FS1r than DX7

Thank you Katoh and the rest!"Ĭurrent Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha). "Korg simply makes the best sounding synths. This may sound like an oxymoron since FM is digital synthesis, but remember FM on DX is more than just 0s and 1s there are active and passive circuit components inside.

Just like Cakewalk stuff (Dimension, Rapture).

If you really need FM8 then buy NI FM8, a PC and controller keyboard, if you want the best workstation keyboard ever then wait and buy a Kronos.Īll the Native Instrument stuff sounds like digital crap: clear and digital with no soul whatsoever. Probably not as versatile as FM8 which much more than 6 op fm and is nearer to FS1r than DX7, however I'm sure Kronos will do a very passable imitation of a DX7 (including loading patches) which is probably all most users will need.īut please look at everything else you are getting - a mk2 Oasys at a third of the price! As a former owner of an Oasys 76 this has to be the synth bargain of the decade. I wonder how is the FM synth in Kronos compared with Native Instruments' FM8 ? No more horrendous load/processing times for either program. Once I did the above, loading either FM8 or Massive became lightning-fast, as did moving around in the Browser - selecting different attributes or going into converted SYSX folders, etc. Click on the arrow for that drop-down, and change the option to 'None'. At bottom of Database options, you will see a drop-down with a label above it called 'Database Hit-Count Display'. Open FM8 or Massive, in stand-alone mode 2. Anyways, IF you are tearing your hair out anytime you are attempting to deal with opening the UI, where it just takes forever (a couple minutes), or when switching to a different filter on the browser, I tracked down a FIX, which takes just a few mouse clicks to implement, and seems to completely turbocharge loading either program, as well as switching around in the Browser of either program. I DO happen to have nearly 10,000 presets in FM8 - don't remember how many for Massive, so maybe this issue does not apply to a lot of folks. Any project with either FM8 or Massive would take FOREVER to open either synth in the Browser Synth Rack, and this also was occurring when running either program in stand-alone mode. Hi - I was having HUGE problems with FM8 and Massive, from Native-Instruments, after some updates. Handy fix for anyone experiencing huge load times for Native-Instruments Massive or FM8
